Simple web based games.

I am not sure what is going on here, am I just getting old?  Bored? Expanding my horizons?  Call it what you will but I have been sucked in to playing web based games.  Sometimes I’ll search for java or flash games other times I’ll just browse the vast libraries on Facebook and Myspace.

What is it about these games that people love?  Is it that you can play from anywhere? Of course not work though.  Or is it just that they are fast and easy? Wait, can it be the top XX list?!

I guess as long as I do not waste my day away, it really does not matter.

On that note, what is your favorite game?!  Post a link!

External Mac Battery

Hi all,

I travel a bit and my biggest problem is ending up at an airport where all the outlets have people camped out on them.

I was just checking out the net and found this:

External Mac battery.

External Mac battery.

The Hypermac external battery.  Does anyone have one of these bad boys?  Hear anything about them?

How do you make your favorite sandwich?

I am a pretty average guy when it comes to food. Not much I will not eat and not real picky. There are 2 things I very much enjoy, cheeseburgers and sandwiches!

The other day I got on a website and asked the question, “How do you make your favorite sandwich”? Here are the answers:

“a dessert sandwich, i guess. it is called a ‘grilled chocolate sandwich.’ you take crusty french bread, put some bittersweet chocolate on the inside. then rub butter on the outsides and grill it (either on a grill on cook it up in a frying pan). you sprinkle a bit of cinnamon and sugar on the outside, and serve with ice cream. ”

“Everyday love to eat sandwich
– two fresh slices of sourdough bread
– one side has mayo
– one side has pesto
– roasted turkey breast thinly sliced
– lots of crisp romaine
– two slices of tomatoes
– couples slices of avocado
– two slices of crisp bacon
– if you want cheese, i like swiss
– dill pickles on the side

Slightly above your normal sandwich
– rye bread or sourdough is OK too
– pastrami (warmed up)
– mustard on one side
– roasted garlic mayo on the other (in a small frying pan, heat up some olive oil and put in two cloves of garlic. just cook that for a few minutes on medium until the garlic is tender. take out the garlic and mash it up on some mayo)
– swiss cheese
– sauerkraut

Easy to make chicken salad
– get a whole cooked chicken from the market or wherever (shred up the breast meat only, not dark meat)
– finely diced red onion
– finely diced celery
– whole grain mustard
– squeeze some lemon juice
– some honey
– pinch of salt and pepper
– toasted slivered almonds
– arugula (or regular romaine is OK too)
– any kind of cheese you like
– tomatoes
– great on like a multi-grain, whole wheat bread

That garlic mayo goes well with a lot of sandwiches and burgers.”

“I don’t, I go to subway and buy a foot long meat ball marinara.

Although, I am partial to a wee piece and corn beef. Or corn dobbie as it can be called in Glasgow.”

What is YOUR best sammich design?!

Solar Flares

I was reading this magazine article while flying yesterdays. It was on solar flares. One more thing to worry about. haha.

Solar flares are natural and happen often. These are normally no big deal but what about the event of a major flare?

Solar Flare

Back in the mid 1800’s such an event did take place. A British astronomer recorded the event which only took a few minutes. The solar storm that followed interrupted telegraph service, compasses spun out of control and electrical currents filled the sky.

In the late 1980’s an even that was MUCH smaller took place. This flare caused a solar storm that took down NE Canada’s power grid. It took 90 seconds to take out the power to six million people. The power was re-routed after several hours but it took months to repair the damage done.

It is suggested that an event on the scale of the 1800’s flare would take out present day satellite, general use electrical equipment and power grids. If all of these were go at once, it may take months if not years to rebuild. Can we live with out things like lights, news, TV, etc.?

On another note, flares seem to run in cycles.  The next estimated flare is in 2012.

Do you ever get fed up with noise makers at movies?

Police: Pa. man shot for making noise during movie

PHILADELPHIA – A man enraged by a noisy family sitting near him in a movie theater on Christmas night shot the father of the family in the arm, police said.

James Joseph Cialella, 29, of Philadelphia, faces six charges that include attempted murder and aggravated assault. He remained in custody Saturday.

Police said Cialella told the man’s family to be quiet, then threw popcorn at the man’s son. The victim, whom television reports identified as Woffard Lomax, told police that Cialella was walking toward his family when he stood up and was shot.

Detectives called to the United Artists Riverview Stadium theater inSouth Philadelphia found Cialella carrying the weapon, a .380-caliber handgun, in his waistband, police said.

Lt. Frank Vanore called the incident “scary that it gets to that level of violence from being too noisy during a movie.”

Lomax, 31, of Yeadon, was released from a hospital after the shooting. He declined to comment when contacted by phone Saturday.

It was not immediately known whether Cialella had a lawyer or whether bail had been set. A woman who answered a call to his home number Saturday declined to comment.

A theater manager referred calls to Regal Entertainment Group spokesman Dick Westerling, who did not immediately return a phone message Saturday.

Police could not confirm what movie was playing in the theater, but The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that it was “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

WOW!  Not that I’d ever, ever, ever thinking about  hurting someone, but kudos!

Ohh my, a Herfy’s burger!

Herfy's Double

Herfy

Not too long ago I went to Herfy’s.  It was a hard decision but I finally went with the double cheeseburger combo.

Let me tell you something, they did NOT let me down!

Not only was this awesome burger perfectly cooked, it came with some of the best

Fries

Fries

fries that I have ever had.  Not only were they top notch, the dipping sauce was awesome as well.  I do not get excited about the spuds often, but I did on this day!

What else can I say?  Awesome burger, great fries. Its a burger fan dream come true.

Now for the nitty gritty!

Pros: Decent price, well cooked, awesome fries, dipping sauce, generous amount of cheese.

Cons: I let half the burger sit while I destroyed fries and the wrapper stuck to it a bit. A pain but it could have been worse.

On the 10 scale, I’d have to give this dining treat an 8.

Had this one before?  Comment and let me know your thoughts!

When is a burger a burger but not a burger?

When its a 7-11 cheeseburger bigbite!

Ok, I like fast food just as much as the next guy.  So when you ask, “Rob, have you tried the cheeseburger bigbite yet?  Well duh.

What do I think about this cheesy treat?  Well, its just OK.  Great if you are in a pinch or just just to lazy to drive.

Pros: Fast, easy, decent taste, cheap, filling.
Cons: Could taste better. buns do not fit right (they do in PA though!).

On the 10 scale, I’d have to give this bad boy a 4.
